Polar codes concatenated with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) can achieve a competitive performance compared with the state-of-the-art codes. In this letter, we propose a criterion for designing concatenation structure based on an error pattern matrix. According to this criterion, we rearrange the location of CRC bits for polar codes to further improve the decoding performance. Meanwhile, the optimal CRC searching complexity of the proposed concatenation structure is significantly less than that of the standard CRC-polar concatenation scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed concatenation scheme outperforms the standard scheme whether they use the identical standard CRC or their respective optimal CRCs.
