This book creates a bridge between modern power systems and analog/digital electronic instrumentation required in contemporary signal processing and monitoring as well as digital control systems. The authors present and discuss the contents of the book in the following 11 chapters: 1) “Computer Interface and Instrumentation Electronics” 2) “Analog-Based Instrumentation Systems” 3) “Sensors and Transducers” 4) “Electronic Instruments for Electrical Engineering” 5) “Signal Simulators and Emulators” 6) “Advanced Harmonic Analysis for Power Systems” 7) “Instrumentation and Monitoring for Distributed Generation Systems” 8) “Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks for Distributed Generation Instrumentation” 9) “Instruments for Data Acquisition” 10) “Software for Electric Power Instrumentation” 11) “Introduct ion to Smart Grid Systems.” Each chapter includes a list of references and bibliographies as well as exercises and case studies, which gives the book the attributes and characteristics of a textbook. However, the proportions and presentation of the material are uneven. While the first six chapters are written in an extremely accessible and exhaustive way, very interesting and important chapters that follow are presented too briefly, and they require a good prior knowledge from the reader.
