In this work, polypropylene (PP) composites filled with functionalized graphene oxide (f-GO) and thermoplastic elastomer (SEBS) were prepared by melt blending and were studied. The introduction of SEBS improves the flexibility of PP/f-GO and its mechanical modulus and crystallinity decreases. Space charge in the blends was suppressed and their short-term electrical breakdown strengths increased. This is attributable to PP/f-GO interfacial traps which reduces the amount and energy of free charges. These results provide important information for the design and development of advanced environmentally friendly polymer composites for high voltage direct current applications.
