Eddy currents, generated by a spatio-temporal magnetic field variation, involve volumic losses, and consequently overheating. A 2-D analytical model is developed to determine precisely the eddy-current distribution as well as losses. An experimental validation by thermal evolution measurements and an overheating of conductive massive parts are performed. Consequently, the eddy-current losses could be determined experimentally. A comparison of the results considering the segmentation influence of conductive massive parts is carried out. The difference between the theoretical and experimental results is less than 5%.
