An appropriate dynamic model is essential for power system frequency response assessments, which are necessary for various aspects of system management. In this paper, a simplified model for the system of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas is proposed based on dynamic models of dominant generation types. The model is also validated and tuned against system frequency measured by phasor measurement units after generation contingencies. The proposed approach of modeling and parameter tuning is applicable to other power systems.
