Heart surgery requiring cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) causes an inflammatory response which may further induce acute kidney injury (AKI). In the present randomized controlled study we evaluated whether corticosteroids can prevent CPB related AKI in neonates undergoing heart surgery.
