I reluctantly push away from my computer and stand up; these calls are hard to listen to. The background pleas for help that come through in flashes over the radio are very different than the controlled order of a resuscitation room. There is a part of me that hesitates bringing Peter, the second-year med student working with me tonight. 'But', I think to myself, 'I can show him where base is and talk through causes of respiratory failure.'
