be a more significant problem in Fiji than previously thought and may help identify whether itraconazole should be included on the essential drug list for Fiji. Although 8.8% had scabies as their primary diagnosis, this number may be under-represented, as most treatments for scabies in Fiji are managed via community clinics. Furthermore, scabies may be missed if there is a more dominant primary diagnosis such as tinea corporis or may have been overlooked during assessment in the clinic, as full skin examination is not performed. Scabies is an ongoing issue as demonstrated from the 2007 national survey of scabies, which reported a prevalence of 23.6% within the Fijian population.
