"What was the reason for Calcium level determination before the surgical procedure?" As explained in the Material and methods, the serum calcium level was measured before, during and after placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) surgery. This is a standard part of our multidisciplinary protocol. We believe that critically low calcium levels during a massive hemorrhage impede coagulation and cardiac function. Knowledge of any low or borderline calcium level prior to surgery allows our anesthesiologists to better plan for the case. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
