Women with severe hypertension during pregnancy require prompt stabilization with a combination of magnesium sulfate and rapidly acting intravenously administered antihypertensives. It remains unknown which antihypertensive is best suited for pregnancy. The present study evaluated the intravenous use of the calcium antagonist, nicardipine.
