Corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) allows visualizing slightest alterations within the corneal subbasal nerve plexus (SNP). Recent CCM studies based on the analysis of three–five CCM images per eye assumed a reduced corneal nerve fibre length (CNFL) in keratoconus (KC).
