We recently published a debate article on the topic of cognitive interventions for mood disorders (1), which has received interest from experts in the area, including many of our respected colleagues (2, 3). We appreciate, as Burdick et al. (2) point out, that novel and important research is being conducted worldwide to address the issue of persisting cognitive impairment in mood disorders. It is therefore timely to be having a fruitful discussion about issues in this area and below we address some of the points raised in the responses to our original debate article.
