Pulmonary complications are common in dermatomyositis (DM) and contribute to significant morbidity and mortality1-3. Patients with dermatomyositis and anti-synthethase4, anti-PM/Scl5 or anti-MDA56 antibodies have specific signs (mechanic's hands in anti-synthethase phenotype; skin and oral ulcers, arthritis and arthralgia, and alopecia in anti-MDA5 phenotype and sclerodermatous changes in anti-PM/Scl phenotype) and an increased risk of interstitial lung disease (ILD).
