A 65-year-old man presented with a 1-year history of hair loss from the mid frontal scalp and a long history of scalp dryness and scaling. He had previously attended the Dermatology department with hand dermatitis, which had been treated with alitretinoin. He had a personal history of atopy and a family history of psoriasis. On physical examination, he was found to have patchy alopecia of the mid frontal scalp and temporal areas, localized to scaly areas. He also had a psoriasiform rash on his trunk and limbs. Following treatment with betamethasone with salicylic acid scalp application, the scaling was much improved and the hair loss halted, but hair regrowth is yet to occur (Fig. 1).
