I thank Cuthbert et al. (2020) for their gracious and constructive response to Sagoff (2020). They point out correctly the high costs of invasive species; the broad range of invader effects on native biodiversity; the many biological characteristics correlated with invader success and impact; and the importance of the nature-culture distinction in conservation. I did not contest any of these issues. Rather, I critiqued the science of invasion biology more generally.
