In 2012, a comprehensive review on the topic of fragrance contact allergens in cosmetics was published by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) of the European Commission (1). It identified 82 fragrance substances as established contact allergens in humans, while an additional 18 fragrance substances were classified as contact allergens based on animal data.
