Topical minoxidil is a safe and effective treatment for patients with androgenetic alopecia. It has a favourable safety profile, but sometimes can cause pruritis, and irritant and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). ACD to topical minoxidil is most commonly due to the solvents such as propylene glycol, butylene glycol and glycerol, and very rarely due to minoxidil itself. We report a patient with androgenetic alopecia who developed ACD to minoxidil.
