Our institutional data shows that approximately 50% of colorectal cancers present at a locally advanced stage(1) necessitating total pelvic exenteration (TPE) in certain cases. It demands technical expertise and is associated with considerable morbidity. We regularly use laparoscopy in such cases whenever it is feasible.
