Pilonidal disease is frequent, especially in young people. The presentation, extent and severity of the disease vary greatly, and as such there is no single "gold standard" surgical treatment. Flaps are frequently indicated to cover cutaneous defects, and those performing these procedures need to keep up to date in these techniques.
