Rectocele is a common disease in women, due to the protrusion of the anterior rectal wall into the vagina and some of its symptoms such as obstructive defaecation syndrome or self-digitation affect the quality of life. A variety of surgical procedures and possible approaches to rectocele repair have been described but the optimal method is unknown.
