We read ,with interest ,the paper by Kolosov et al. We are a little confused by the conclusion. Although the prognosis of anorectal melanoma (AM) is poor irrespective of the surgical approach (radical vs. local) - in their own cohort as well as in the literature-, the authors write: "An aggressive surgical approach may have an effect on survival in most early stages, while more advanced disease benefits from a more conservative approach.
