Mucinous nevus (MN) is a rare lesion that possesses features of both a connective tissue nevus and a cutaneous mucinosis. Lesions present as asymptomatic brown to flesh-colored papules and plaques on the trunk in a linear or zosteriform distribution, and are histopathologically characterized by mucin deposition in the papillary dermis, though adipose tissue has rarely been described in these lesions. We report an adolescent male presenting with a MN exhibiting increased dermal mucin in addition to dermal adipocytes. We propose that MN may occur on a spectrum with lesions showing a hamartomatous component of adipocytes, such as nevus lipomatosus superficialis (NLS).
