Leelarathna and Wilmot [1] recently reviewed the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System (Abbott Diabetes Care, Alameda, CA, USA) for Diabetic Medicine and concluded that the 'accuracy of the FreeStyle Libre is comparable to currently available real-time continuous glucose monitoring in adults, children, and during pregnancy'. This conclusion was not directly supported by the evidence cited because there were no studies that compared the accuracy of the current Dexcom G5 (Dexcom Inc, San Diego, CA, USA) with that of the FreeStyle Libre. Rather, there were two small studies that compared an earlier version of Dexcom, the G4 Platinum, with the FreeStyle Libre [2,3]. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
