Dear Editor, Hyaluronic acid (HA) injection has become a standard cosmetic procedure for dermatologists and plastic surgeons. Products containing HA and complex ingredients known as HA essence are generally used for skin care and strictly prohibited for injection. Here, we report a case of acute hypersensitivity and infectious inflammatory reactions after self-injection of HA essence in a young woman and discuss the mechanism and treatment.
