Soluble Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myelocytes 1 (sTREM-1) is a promising innate immunity biomarker that may be able to differentiate infectious from aseptic (non-infectious) systemic inflammation. Ambiguous results on its discriminative value have been reported by different studies.
