The subject of our next installment in the series “Profiles of Women in Science” (Helmreich, Bolam, & Foxe, 2017) is Dr. Carmen Sandi. Our goal for this series was to bring recognition to successful women throughout the scientific community and to provide perspective, insight and advice for young scientists. Dr. Sandi earned her PhD in the Cajal Institute and the Autonomous University of Madrid, and performed her postdoctoral research in Spain, France and the United Kingdom. In 2003, Dr. Sandi accepted a tenuretrack position at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne in Switzerland, rising to full professor in 2012. In July 2018, Dr. Sandi assumed the position of President of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS).
