The 2023 Annual Review Issue of Histopathology, dedicated to breast pathology, contains 14 invited reviews on topics of particular importance to practicing breast pathologists. The selected manuscripts highlight evolving breast cancer classifications, the importance of a unified approach in classifying and reporting breast lesions and provide insights on salient and novel findings that pathologists frequently encounter in clinical practice. Novel markers, common diagnostic pitfalls in breast pathology, the current role of next generation sequencing as well as the current and potential contributions of artificial intelligence, are also discussed. These articles encompass a broad range of topics that are of interest to the readers of Histopathology. As always, the manuscripts contained herein are freely available online.
