Two research projects were carried out under support from JSPS KAKENHI grant numbers JP16H0462 and JP23340156: one is entitled “Uplift, denudation, cooling history of the Himalaya” and another is entitled “Construction of model on the mountain building process of collided range of the Himalaya.” The field works were performed in 2011–2013 and 2017–2019 under collaboration with the Department of Geology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. The results have been reported in the annual meetings of the Geological Society of Japan and Japan Geoscience Union. Among our research results, seven papers have been published in this thematic issue.
