tive included in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals by itself or in combination with other preservatives. 2-Phenoxyethanol in isolation rarely leads to sensitization, however, prevalence data are limited in the North American population. Allergy to tocopherol is similarly uncommon, with a prevalence of 0.7% among North American patients in 2015–2016. Propylene glycol (PG), a ubiquitous ingredient with several functions, was found in 20.3% of products. In 2015–2016, the NACDG estimated the positive patch test prevalence of PG to be 4.0% (100% aq) and 2.8% (30% aq). Fragrance, a common allergen, was present in a quarter of the products included in the Holy Grail skincare routine. However, only one of the top 10 products contained fragrance. This may represent growing awareness among skincare enthusiasts regarding well-known contact allergens like fragrance, explaining why the top 10 products had a lower frequency of fragrance in their ingredients. Limitations of this study include variability of the “Holy Grail” routine from year to year in addition to the overall unreliability of online skincare tips not verified by physicians. We present this study in order to make clinicians aware of this increasingly popular online source of skincare information and product recommendations.
