present study, such as thickness of the bladder wall and bladder weight, which were reported to be good indicators of efficacy of a1-blockers in a previous report. Further studies are required to analyze factors including these parameters. In conclusion, although silodosin was shown to be effective in patients with LUTS associated with BPE, its therapeutic efficacy for both IPSS and BOO decreased in patients with longer IPP (cut-off value of 11 mm). IPP was shown to be useful for predicting the therapeutic effects of a1-blockers for not only subjective symptoms, but also BOO.
