Immunology is relatively a new field, more so in Sudan. Despite recent advances in this field, Sudan's contribution to international immunology is still diminutive. While the lack of infrastructure and funding are important factors in this, lack of well-trained immunologists is an essential reason. In this short commentary, through narrating my own personal story and challenges I faced, I argue for the importance of mentorship in training the next generation of Sudanese immunologists, thus improving their standing among their international peers.
