Psoriasis and mycosis can present with a very similar clinical and histological appearance: Both diseases are characterized by red and scaly plaques with pustules of varying extent and by parakeratosis, acanthosis and subcorneal neutrophilic pustulosis. Psoriatic skin, however, is more often colonized by fungi1, 2 . IL-36γ is a reliable histological and serologic marker of psoriasis3 and mediates the recruitment of psoriatic immune cells into the skin4 . These observations raise the question whether fungal infections could induce IL-36γ expression and thus trigger an exacerbation of psoriasis. This article is protected by copyright.
