Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is one of the most common life-threatening cancer types worldwide due to its aggressiveness 1 . Although recent advances have contributed to understand molecular changes in BCC, such as microRNA, a class of short non-coding RNAs, that have been reported play a critical role in the regulation of gene expression in BCC patients 2,3 . However, there are still many unknown mechanisms of BCC pathogenesis. An improved understanding of reliable biomarkers and more effective therapeutic targets is necessary to improve patient outcomes.
