Striae distensae (SD), commonly known as stretch marks, are a permanent type of dermal scarring. Due to their unattractive appearance, SD are aesthetically troublesome and have a negative psychological impact on some patients. Histologically, SD are characterized by densely packed areas of thin, horizontally arranged bundles of collagen lying parallel to the skin surface. This article is protected by copyright.
