Actinic cheilitis (AC) is considered a precancerous lesion of the lip.1 Renal transplant recipients (RTR) have a higher susceptibility to human papillomavirus (HPV) infections and lip squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). 2 Over 200 HPV types were described and most cluster within the α-, β- and γ-HPV genera. 3 Merkel Cell Polyomavirus (MCPyV) and several HPVs are associated with skin affections including cancer. 2 We evaluated the association of MCPyV, HPVs and related biomarkers with AC.
