Subungual melanoma (SM) is a rare type of melanoma. It accounts for about 0.7-3% of all melanoma cases1-2 . It has a worse prognosis compared to other melanoma types, probably related to the diagnosis at a more advanced stage. SM typically presents as longitudinal melanonychia, but can resemble to various other dermatoses. The tumor doesn't seem to be associated with sun exposure, and BRAF mutations aren't common, usually placing targeted therapies out of the therapeutic options.
