The occurrence of multiple lentigines in children and young adults is a rare situation. It warrants attention, since it can be the first manifestation of a few hereditary disorders with a variety of developmental defects of the cardiovascular, endocrine, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems as well as an increased susceptibility to tumorigenesis.
