Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatory disease affecting the intertriginous skin of axillary, inguinal, and perianal sites. In these areas, patients develop painful and disabling skin lesions such as inflamed nodules, abscesses, and fistula with foul-smelling secretions. We aimed to investigate the documented prevalence and health care of HS patients in Germany. Therefore, we analyzed a dataset from a German nationwide statutory health insurance (SHI).
