no data on the role of the Th17 pathway in the genital forms of LP. By analogy, we can suppose that the mechanism is similar for genital and oral LP. Treatment options for mucosal lichen planus are limited with weak level of evidence. The marked and prolonged efficacy of secukinumab in this severe and resistant case of erosive genital LP supports its efficacy. This first success of a targeted therapy for a genital form of LP clearly warrants further studies, but it brings encouraging new options targeting the IL17/IL23 pathway for patients suffering from this chronic and disabling disease.
