Autoimmune blistering diseases (AIBD) are associated with significant impact on quality of life with numerous associated psychiatric comorbidities.1-3 We sought to investigate disease-related risk factors for the development of depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in AIBD patients. A cross-sectional cohort study was conducted at the University of Illinois at Chicago with Institutional Review Board exemption. An anonymous electronic survey was distributed to the International Pemphigus & Pemphigoid Foundation patient database. In patients with active disease, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) anxiety and depression surveys were utilized.
