In X‐linked hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (XLHED), ectodysplasin A1 (EDA1) deficiency results in malformation of hair, teeth and sweat glands. Lack of sweating which can cause life‐threatening hyperthermia is amenable to intrauterine therapy with recombinant EDA1.
