C-peptide physiology and the pathogenesis of microvascular complications of diabetes were the topic of a recent international symposium in Stockholm, sponsored by the Journal of Internal Medicine. The aim of the symposium was to highlight recent physiological findings and therapeutic possibilities for an endogenous peptide that has received relatively little scientific attention. In this issue of the Journal, three of the speakers at the meeting present overviews of their different fields of expertise.
