Although still considered a “rare” disease in the context of a population-based incidence of approximately 0.5 per 10,000 children per year [1], pulmonary embolism (PE) is nevertheless an important and increasingly recognized condition in pediatrics, with substantive risks of mortality and morbidity [2,3].
