We read with interest the recent article by Salerno et al., which exhaustively highlights the increasing threat of infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) that may adversely influence the mid- and long-term outcome of the liver disease .1 Indeed, in their prospective multicenter cohort, the prevalence of infections due to MDROs was as high as 27% (83/313 culture-proven episodes) and, even more alarming, rates did not differ between community-acquired and hospital-acquired forms.1 This article is protected by copyright.
