An 8- year- old girl presented with a 2- month history of jaundice. The physical examination revealed yellowing of the skin and sclera. Liver function tests revealed elevated direct bilirubin (103 μ mol/L), alkaline phosphatase (1192 IU/L), and gamma- glutamyltransferase (293 IU/L) levels. The tumour markers (alpha- fetoprotein, carci-noembryonic antigen and neuron- specific enolase) were negative.
