lack of communication and miscommunication can foster errors. Patients believe that being closer to the doctor in an empathetic relationship improves the quality of health care. Signs of empathy are eye contact, attention to what the patient is saying and having a friendly attitude. 2 Take care of yourself: doctors need to be happy and not lose the pleasure of being doctors. 3 Shared decision making: patients want to be protagonists in their lives. They want the behaviour of doctors to be driven by honesty, patience and communicational skills in making decisions.
