Collaborative approaches to person-centred care in health require a range of complex professional competencies for success. Traditionally, pharmacists have had fewer opportunities to gain these compared to other health care professionals. For pharmacists to fully realise their potential within multidisciplinary settings, graduates need to have developed strong communication skills and collaborative competencies. As our students in the University of Auckland Bachelor of Pharmacy programme typically report not enjoying team-based learning, we considered: How can we offer novel, engaging opportunities for them to hone the skills needed to demonstrate such sophisticated competencies?
