While medical education continues to focus on prescriptions, procedures and testing as the cornerstone of the treatment plan, evidence is mounting that patient outcomes are more likely to be impacted by addressing social and behavioural determinants of health (SDH). To develop this skill set, residents must have knowledge of resources in their community. Additionally, adult learning theory suggests learners are more likely to retain information when it is applicable to an authentic work environment. In response, we designed a 1.5-hour Community Resource Fair (CRF) for family medicine residents featuring an interactive, team-based learning technique.
