Considering the webinar, this event brought together expert speakers from around our region and was attended by over 700 delegates nationwide. It has been made available online and has currently received over 1000 views, demonstrating ongoing educational impact. The Roadshows were the innovative element of our programme and the area in which we learned the most. Overall, 88% of attendees rated the content as extremely relevant or relevant. Ninety-three percent of attendees rated the delivery of the Roadshows as great or fantastic, and 86% of attendees felt that the faculty was extremely knowledgeable. Delegates rated the scenarios as the most useful element of the course, although they also suggested making them shorter to create more time for discussion. This was insightful feedback for us as faculty. Had we inadvertently truncated debrief time, to protect ourselves as facilitators? Indeed, at times, it was a challenge to get meaningful discussion started. The lesson here was in the transferability of simulation-based training to the virtual arena. We learned that creating psychological safety is crucially important, to encourage contribution from all participants. Even though we thought we had addressed this, it is possible we did not go far enough for the sensitive subject matter. It is more difficult to ‘read’ a virtual audience, and this poses a challenge for faculty. Our break-out rooms worked well to encourage participation, but planning we learned must be meticulous as the environment is unforgiving of change once the course is ‘live’. Reflecting on our programme, we did achieve our overarching goal and the experience afforded valuable learning to all involved.
