In 2020, we developed a series of flipped classrooms and virtual reality (VR) simulation videos to cultivate nursing students' clinical reasoning, knowledge and attitudes toward patients with dementia. The contents of flipped classrooms have included the core knowledge such as diagnosis and treatment of dementia, and nursing interventions that improve self-care in patients with dementia and problemsolving in their families. VR simulation videos allow students to experience and immerse themselves in a virtual world with preconceived beliefs and judgements in order to let them reflect on their new observations and formed concepts. A mobile application supporting both iOS and Android devices was developed and students were provided with a pair of VR headsets so that they could access the VR scenarios using their own mobile devices. The Clinical Reasoning Cycle was adapted as a conceptual framework for the tutorial sessions in order to enhance nursing students' clinical judgement and critical thinking. First, in each tutorial session, students were required to immerse in a VR case scenario and substitute in the role of the virtual patient in hospital and community settings. We designed the VR simulation videos with an in-game head tracking option box. Students would select the best option; thus, they would control the case scenario development. Different decisions made by students would lead to different consequences, which allowed students to understand and analyse the patients' reactions, leading to the appropriate actions. Subsequently, students participated in the group discussion to share their experiences and their decisions. A tutorial guide with questions that related to the patient situations, identification of problems, and establishment of goals, actions, communication and perceptions related to dementia care was provided to facilitate students' reflection. Tutors facilitated the discussion and provided feedback to the students to develop students' clinical reasoning. 3 | WHAT LESSONS WERE LEARNED?
